Special Peyote Class |

Rings woven with delicas
|
Guest instructor Pat Riesner will lead the January meeting
of the Beading Society in an introductory peyote class.
Peyote is a type of off-loom bead weaving that has become
extremely popular. Select from an assortment of our new
Miyuki delica beads to make this stylish two-color ring.
This class will provide you with the skills you need to make
a wide assortment of rings, bracelets and necklaces using
the peyote stitch.
Delicas are a category of seed beads that are precision-made
and perfectly cylindrical so they look like tiny rectangular
tiles when woven in a pattern. They have a relatively large
hole for their size, which makes them light, so you get more
beads per gram. These features make delicas ideal for
weaving projects. Our new delica assortment should be ready
for purchase in another week.
This class is open only to members of the Beading Society.
If spaces are still available after January 26, it will be
open to non-members. Those on the wait list will be
admitted on a first-come first-serve basis.

Because of delays in receiving our delicas from the
warehouse, and to give Pat an extra week to recover from
hand surgery, the January meeting of the Beading Society
will be held on Friday February 1, 9:30-noon. As with
all classes, you must reserve your place in advance as
space is limited. (Call for details – 914-437-7666.) You
may come in the last week of January to select your
colors, or arrive 15 minutes early for the class to make
your selection.

Did You Know? |
|
Sometimes it’s impossible to hide the loop of stringing
material at the ends of your necklace where you are
attaching the clasp. Especially when a clasp is worn in
front, or if you are selling a piece, the sight of even
a little Softflex can detract from the overall picture.
Try using a wire guardian to hide the stringing
material. They are very inexpensive, and much easier to
use than French wire. You just slip it over the
stringing material – nothing to cut, and it doesn’t pull
apart. Ask our staff about them. |

Be My Valentine |
Come
in to see our new selection of heart-shaped beads in all
materials – Swarovski crystal, Hill Tribe silver and
sterling, plated metals, glass and plastic.
.jpg) Many of
these beads will only be available through February 14,
and will then be retired – until next year! Make a gift
for someone special, or for yourself. Use it as an
opportunity to encourage a father-daughter beading
outing, to make something for mom – our staff will make
sure they get all the help they need. |
